Our labs in Solna and Flemingsberg are a place for innovation and growth in science and technology. We strive to make it easy for businesses to thrive and develop. We offer both private labs and lab benches in shared premises.

The lab environments are fully equipped with everything you need; fume cupboards, lab benches, LAF benches, fridge freezer and more. In addition, all our members share a variety of equipment in our general lab. Here you will find everything from pipettes, heating cabinets, centrifuges and GENUINE instruments to PCR machines. All members also have access to amenities such as a clean water system, dishwasher and efficient management of hazardous waste.

All our members have access to special instrumentation and can benefit from advice from experts at A Working Lab – Innomedicum. In addition, we have an exciting partner in Waters, which is a leader in mass spectrometry. In our Open Access Lab, our members can explore this area with guidance from our Lab Manager. You also have the option to rent and use equipment for your own projects.

Frequently asked questions about labs

Where are the labs located?

We have laboratory spaces in both Innomedicum at Campus Solna and in Flemingsberg.
What furniture/equipment is included in a Private Lab?

In AWL Innomedicum, Private Labs are typically equipped with lab benches, a sink, cupboards and shelves. Most labs have one fume hood and usually come with a dedicated fridge/freezer. In AWL Flemingsberg, Private Labs come equipped with lab benches, a wash basin, cupboards and shelves. Fume hoods can be installed upon request and there is an installation fee.
Can Private Labs be modified to match my requirements?

Most labs are ready for the user to move in and we aim at renting them out in their current condition. We are happy to make minor lab modifications to meet the user’s needs. Major modifications need to be discussed with and approved by the Lab Manager. The cost of the modifications is typically covered by the company moving in.
How can I access the resources in the Common Lab?

There’s 3 different ways: • External rate: The resources in the Common Lab can be booked by external users on an hourly basis at the external rate. • Flex Lab membership: Existing members can add the Flex Lab membership to their existing lounge*/desk/office membership, which gives them access to a number of hours in the Common Lab (*lounge membership available only in Flemingsberg) • Private Lab membership: Existing members with a Private Lab membership have unlimited access to the Common Lab.
Are the instruments in the Common Lab calibrated and maintained?

Yes. All instruments in the Common Lab are maintained annually and those that need to be calibrated (analytical balance, pipettes) are sent for calibration once a year.
Is cleaning included for the labs?

Yes. The floors in the labs are swept and mopped at least once a week. If cleaning of the lab benches is needed this can be arranged and it usually requires clearing the benches.
