A Working Lab - the new way to meet, work and collaborate

A Working Lab is Akademiska Hus's national concept for coworking, makerspaces, short-term contracts, Learning Labs, and other flexible meeting spaces. It's our tool for developing campus-adjacent environments where it's easy for students, researchers, businesses, and other societal stakeholders to come together in new, flexible forms.

A Working Lab is developed in collaboration with those who inhabit our spaces, with the building itself as a testing ground. Here, companies, organisations, and individuals from diverse backgrounds can rent space for the time they need and access services and physical environments tailored to their specific requirements. This is where conferences and meetings are held, as well as educational programs and workshops.

A Working Lab is a concept that evolves alongside our customers, and it's also the common name for our new meeting places and services taking shape around the country. The first of these was A Working Lab Johanneberg Science Park in Gothenburg, which opened in the autumn of 2019. Our concept permeates an entirely new building there, but it can just as easily be integrated into our existing environments as part of a structure.

In the spring of 2020, we opened A Working Lab Universum in the heart of Umeå campus and A Working Lab Innomedicum at Campus Solna. The latter also has a node with labs of all sizes in on Campus Flemingsberg.

In January 2022, A Working Lab assumed operation of the coworking space THINGS at KTH Campus in Stockholm.
