Here, companies, organisations, and individuals from various backgrounds can rent work and meeting spaces as needed, while also gaining access to services and tailored physical environments. Conferences, meetings, trainings, and workshops are also organised here. As a part of A Working Lab, you become a member of both a local and national community, with the opportunity to work on other campuses where A Working Labs are located.

The building itself is a thriving environment for innovation where the latest in research and development is tested. 

The path to the completed building was also an innovative process. Sixteen innovation projects drove the work forward with a clear focus on climate and sustainability throughout the entire construction process, and the building is certified as Environment Building Gold. 

Learning Lab: Spaces for learning, creativity and innovation

Within A Working Lab, there's also Learning Lab: three rooms with different characteristics and endless opportunities to test how factors like sound, light, interior and digital tools can influence learning, creativity, and outcomes. Mobile studio equipment for live broadcasting of digital events can be rented within this environment.

    We offer private offices ranging from 8² to 29 m². The rooms are designed for one to four people and are furnished with ergonomic furniture, storage, and whiteboard. The rooms are located in our coworking environment and grant you access to other facilities within the coworking such as smaller meeting rooms, pantry, lounge environments, and open desk spaces. This allows you to be both a part of our community and have a private space.

  • How does AWL differ from other coworking environments?

    Our environments function just like a regular office but also offer something extra, such as unexpected encounters and inspiration. All A Working Lab locations are situated on or near university campuses, making it easier for researchers, students, businesses, and society to come together. We encourage all members to take advantage of the opportunity for collaboration and the development of the shared workspace. Suggestions for activities and initiatives that inspire working together with others are welcomed.

  • What does a membership in A Working Lab Johanneberg entail? What do you get access to?

    AWL Johanneberg offers a unique space where businesses, society, and academia can meet and collaborate across competencies and professional boundaries. We provide diverse office spaces, communal meeting rooms, modern conference facilities, and tailored services for companies looking to work in the heart of one of Sweden's leading clusters for urban development. All members have free access to Wi-Fi, coffee, and printers. You also become part of our community and can participate in the events held on-site. Additionally, you have access to a gym, bicycle storage, changing rooms, and can enjoy meals at the Waste restaurant located on the ground floor.

  • Do you offer larger conference rooms or meeting spaces?

    A Working Lab Johanneberg has meeting rooms for both large events and small meetings for two people, and everything in between (2-120 people). All rooms have versatile furnishings and are equipped with Wi-Fi, digital screens, video solutions for different systems, speakers, whiteboards, and more.

  • What happens in your AWL community?

    Here, you become part of a place where business, society, and academia converge, and where some of Sweden's leading innovations in urban development are created. A Working Lab consists of a total of 2,000 m² spread across a coworking space, a Learning Lab, and conference and meeting rooms. In addition to this, there are numerous collaboration partners, actors, and offerings in the area. As part of A Working Lab, you become part of both a local and national community, with the opportunity to work on other campuses where we are present.

  • Can I, as a member, access your other AWL environments around the country?

    As a member of AWL Johanneberg in Gothenburg, you automatically gain access to all AWL environments in Stockholm, Solna, and Umeå.

  • What is available in the area?

    A Working Lab is located at Chalmers campus in the Johanneberg district in central Gothenburg. You are in close proximity to Chalmers, where about 2,000 researchers and 10,000 students work and study. Around 80 companies and organizations also operate in the area. You are offered a creative and developmental environment with access to meeting places, networking activities, as well as conference and services.

  • How do I travel to A Working Lab?

    There is a public transportation hub near A Working Lab at the Chalmers stop, and three stop locations at Gibraltargatan/Eklandagatan: Engdahlsgatan, Bergssprängaregatan, and Pilbågsgatan.
